The Anti-Tenant of the Sixth Floor: “A Very Special Day”, Ettore Scola and private life in fascismo
Abstract
Italian fascism has consolidated itself in a way in which it permeates ideologically both the public and private lives of all of Italy’s population. Through a study based upon the two main characters in the film “A Special Day”, directed by Ettore Scola in 1977, the following work seeks to analyze the elements present in the plot that contribute in the understanding of the strategies used by the authoritarian regime to maintain hegemony and control over people’s intimate and social lives.
