Uma Memória da Revista Práxis

Lincoln Secco’s article recounts the history of Práxis magazine, founded in 1994 as an expression of militant Marxism amid the post-Cold War crisis of the Left. Emerging during a period of weakened grassroots mobilization and the institutional rise of the Brazilian Workers' Party (PT), Práxis distinguished itself through its independence from specific political factions and its theoretical pluralism, gathering intellectuals such as Ronald Rocha, Jacob Gorender, and Florestan Fernandes. Blending personal recollections with political analysis, the text portrays the organizational challenges faced by a theoretical journal sustained by activists with limited resources but a strong critical foundation. The author highlights the magazine’s role in resisting the liberal offensive, valuing its collective structure, capacity for dialogue, and commitment to a renewed Marxist perspective. Its discontinuation in the late 1990s reflected internal political divergences and broader shifts within the Brazilian left, but the Práxis experience remains a benchmark in intellectual militancy.
