Abstract

In this essay, biographical dimensions and theoretical contributions of Friedrich Engels, whose bicentennial birth is celebrated in 2020, are reconstructed. Famous passages of his life (some of them not well known, mentioned in more recent biographies) are linked to his original contributions to areas such as Political economy, History, Anthropology and Philosophy.
