Introduction to a Handbook: A Brief Record of Comic Books and the 1949 Revolution
Abstract
Comic books have always been prejudiced. Taxed as a child's thing or something vulgar. Some, like Ariel Dorfman1, even present comics as an ideological tool of imperialism, based on Western production.
This anti-comic book canteen is the result of the dumbing down of the left in general. Comics are nothing more than a form of literary narrative. Or as I prefer: a graphic narrative. It's not just propaganda, despite being an extraordinary means of propagandizing ideas in the West, we have countless examples of comics that have nothing to do with talking ducks or heroes who put their trunks over their pants.
