One Hundred Years of Fulvio Abramo
Abstract
I knew little of my grandfather. I was born and live in Mexico, where my father went into exile after the dictatorship. Over time, I nurtured an admiration for my grandfather that grew as I discovered how fruitful the lessons of his political affiliation are for our current practice. Originally I had written another speech for this act, but two days ago, in a very happy reunion with my aunts and cousins, descendants of my grandfather's older brother, Alcione Abramo handed me a package with about forty letters that my grandfather wrote to his parents and siblings during his imprisonment at the Maria Zélia Political Presidio and his stay in Bolivia, between 1935 and 1945.
