Digital currencies and the ways of capitalism

In this paper we aim to explain processual changes in the global financial systems in the recent period. Initially, we present some of the general characteristics of these monetary systems, in a second moment, how technological changes, the dominance of DLT – distributive ledger technology and its consequences impact these changes, among them, the adoption of digital money by Central Banks and its impacts for enterprises and individuals. Finally, we intend to expose the potential consequences of these transformations.
